Program Studi S2 Ilmu Peternakan
Program Studi S2 Ilmu Peternakan Universitas Andalas merupakan institusi pendidikan yang menyelenggarakan pendidikan dan pembelajaran terhadap mahasiswa strata 2 (S2). Keberadaan program Magister Peternakan dirasa penting dalam pembangunan peternakan di Indonesia. Peternakan sangat erat hubungan dengan ketahanan pangan terutama kebutuhan akan daging, telur, susu sebagai sumber protein hewani. Disamping itu bidang peternakan berkaitan juga sumber daya manusia dalam mencerdaskan masyarakat Indonesia. Program Magister Ilmu Peternakan Fakultas Peternakan Universitas Andalas sangat strategis, karena berada pada Fakultas Peternakan yang tertua di luar pulau Jawa yang mempunyai sumber daya alam dan sumber daya manusia yang cukup.
The Master of Animal Science (MAS) Program curriculum is built upon a framework of Educational Objectives (EO) and Intended Learning Outcomes (ILO). The subject matter, organized into four main areas—Livestock Production Technology, Nutrition and Feed Technology, Animal Product Technology, and Livestock Development and Business—is derived from these EOs and ILOs and distributed across the various courses. As a result, all courses offered in the program are designed to collectively contribute to achieving the ILO. The curriculum is intentionally structured to fulfill these outcomes, with each ILO addressed through the specific subject matter embedded in individual courses, as presented in Table 1.12.

The structure of Compulsory Courses consists of three subjects: Philosophy Science, Academic Writing, and Research Design. Continued to Mandatory Elective Courses, three Subjects, then four elective Courses and followed by Thesis. Each Course associated with the ILO can be seen in the ILO, PI and the Courses.
